Add another festival to Brisbane’s growing portfolio. This Saturday, the Shafston Hotel in East Brisbane will be hosting its inaugural “Bites & Brews” Laneway Festival and it’s looking like it’ll be a good one. The outdoor event will be featuring some of Queensland’s top breweries, food trucks, and live local music.
Not so long ago on a blog not unlike this one, there was a monthly addition highlighting the top 5 new beers I had consumed. Due to life doing what it does best and getting in the way laziness, it fell by the wayside, but for 2015, I’ve decided to resurrect it. I remember back to when I walked the Bridge 2 Brisbane back in 2013. After it was done, we had gone to a Turkish restaurant and I saw this beer called “961 Beer Lebanese Pale Ale”. I remember it having a very interesting flavour, with the addition of thyme, sage, chamomile and various other herbs. I’ve only ever had the one, but it stands out distinctly in my mind.
Looking forward to seeing what these gents have to offer with their new “Hawker Beer” brand!
February is the new November. It’s that month before a big, highly anticipated event. November has Christmas to look forward to and February, it gets Brewsvegas.
